The 947 Ride Joburg is more than just a cycle race – it’s a platform for people to accomplish something great.
Train Joburg is a 947 Ride Joburg initiative to get our 947 Ride Joburg riders fit in creative ways in a safe environment, indoors and outdoors, with our dedicated coach, Timo Cooper from the Coopetto.
Timo has compiled a training programme specifically for 947 Ride Joburg, which is available for download below. We will also share the training programme with participating Planet Fitness indoor cycling instructors, who will be hosting dedicated indoor cycling classes in preparation for 947 Ride Joburg.

Our series of outdoor training rides across Joburg will help you prepare for the big day!
Your outdoor training journey begins on Tuesday, 17 August, in the iconic Cradle of Mankind… just outside of the city, where you’ll start and end your ride at the Bidon Bistro.
From 25 August, and every Wednesday afternoon thereafter, 947 Ride Joburg MTB riders will be able to explore the incredible 25 and 50 km trails of Steyn City — an experience usually reserved for estate residents.
And in honour of Women’s Month, we will also be hosting two women’s rides in the Cradle on 15 and 29 August where riders will be supported by Specialized.
Ladies, rally your girlfriends and join us for a free and safe group ride through the Cradle with experienced lead riders from Specialized and mechanical support from the Specialized technical team. Start your ride at Bidon Bistro right after you’ve had a steaming mug of coffee or a bracing cup of tea on us.
We offer four groups to accommodate every fitness and experience level. No reason to feel intimidated; there will be a group for you.
Group A: 25 – 27 km/h (Approx 51 km with a 500 m climbing)
Group B: 23 – 25 km/h (Approx 51 km with a 500 m climbing)
Group C: 20 – 23 km/h (Approx 34 km with a 410 m climbing)
Group D: <20 km/h (Approx 21 km with a 140 m climbing)
Please note that space is limited to 100 ladies only, and booking is essential.
