Should an E-bike participant change his entry to/from an E-bike category without properly applying for such a change through the Race Office, he/she will be disqualified. No e-bikes are permitted in the KIDS / 10km MTB events
A participant may organise a substitution with the Race Office which can be done for free up to 18 October 2023, thereafter a substitution fee of R250.00 will apply. The original entry fee will not be refunded. The person who is being substituted will have their number removed from the database and a new number will be allocated. Seeding will be according to the new participant’s individual seeding index. Please contact the Race Office for instructions on how to facilitate a substitution.
Only paid pre-entries will be accepted. There will be no late entries or unpaid entries at the venue.

Charity and Company Team start times will be communicated to teams later in the year. Each team participant with a seeding index will be allocated their start time, and all unseeded members will be seeded in the team’s start group. Seeded cyclists may drop down to their team’s start time if they wish to ride together. No late seeding requests at registration will be entertained.
Entrants wishing to support one of the registered 947 Ride Joburg charities will be required to select to support one of the registered charities listed on the website.

A Charity Team is made up of 10 or more entries to help raise funds and awareness for the charity. Limited group entries will be accepted. Terms and Conditions will apply.

We use seeding to ensure riders of similar ability are grouped together so that you can compete enjoyably and safely. This is reflected in your start group and time.
To calculate your seeding, we will use road results obtained from events between 1 November 2020 and 30 September 2023 (at the discretion of the Race Director).
We will send out the ROAD seeding mailers for all entrants mid October. In this email, you’ll find everything you need to know to get you to the 947 Ride Joburg Road start line.
The KIDS and MTB events will be seeded closer to the event dates.
It is compulsory for every cyclist participating to use a Faces Timing Board with chip. These are available for purchase online for R60 (board only) to R80 (incl clip).
If you entered in 2021 these were issued at no charge to entrants and may be re-used. It is important to note that you may only use the board that is linked to your entry profile, this must be attached to your seat post as instructed. Boards are non-transferable and you may not ride with someone else’s race number or timing board. Any participant that does not wear their race number or timing chip will not be allowed into the start pen on race day.
Finish Time is the official timing company of the Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg Road.

SASeeding, or their appointed agency, is the official timing company of the 10km, 25km & 50km 947 Ride Joburg MTB.
It is compulsory for every cyclist participating in 10km, 25km & 50km to wear a valid SAS board linked to their personal profile, with the batch and event stickers provided affixed to the board. SAS boards may be purchased online during the entry process. You may not ride with someone else’s SAS board.

You need to have your bicycle, helmet (remember no helmet, no ride), your SAS board with the batch sticker (which can also be collected at registration).
Participants with existing SASeeding Number Boards will have the opportunity to validate their number against their name online before the race / on race day. It is the sole responsibility of the rider to ride with the correct number.

No entry fee shall be refunded to a participant for a cancellation of the Event due to acts of God (so called Force Majeure), which acts shall include but not be limited to adverse weather conditions, riots, strikes, political unrest and/or any other occurrence not within the control of the event organiser.
Embodied in the biggest annual celebration of cycling is the Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg Lifestyle Expo – one of the most sought-after cycling and health-related exhibitions in the country. All entrants are required to collect their Race Packs from Number Collection, which runs concurrently with the Expo at FNB Stadium, 16 – 18 November 2023.

As a participant, you will not be able to use the closed roads on the route to get to the start or the parking areas. Full road closure info and maps will be published, familiarise yourself with the map to navigate around the road closures.
There are six colour-coded parking areas within the FNB Stadium / NASREC precinct. These parking areas will be secured. Please note the colour of the parking area, so that you can identify where your car is.
Allow at least an hour to get from your parking spot to the start zone. Also, look out for directional information and signage in the parking areas. Use them as a landmark for where you parked.
There will be JMPD officers and Outsurance Traffic Free Flow pointsmen on all intersections leading into the venue to assist with traffic control. Security guards will patrol all parking areas from 04:h00 until 16:h00, so please park in the recommended parking areas only. You will be directed to a parking area by marshals. Please follow their instructions.
There will be beverage and food vendors at the venue.
There are eight water points along the route, stocked with ice-cold water, Powerade and Coke. It’s always good practice to ensure you have plenty to drink. Please arrive with two full bottles, which you can refill at any of the water points.
When approaching the water points, please refit your buff or mask and only touch the items you will keep with you.
