In the true spirit of the 947 Ride Joburg, 500 riders will have the opportunity to join the 947 Ride Joburg Charity Ride on 14 November 2020 as part of our Ride for a Purpose initiative. Starting at Steyn City, five celebrity riders will each be leading a group of 100 riders on a safe 55 km route with refreshment stations along the way. Proceeds from the Charity Ride will be divided between our official charity foundations: the CHOC Foundation and the Steyn City  Foundation. 

Experience Joburg and the camaraderie of fellow riders while riding for a worthwhile cause in the 947 Ride Joburg Charity Ride.

All proceeds go to selected charity foundations.

Event format

  • Registration will open at 06h30. Complimentary coffee and rusks will be available.
  • Only pre-paid pre-entries will be accepted to reduce queueing and promote social distancing.
  • No late entries will be available.
  • A screening station will be set up at the venue entrance where riders’ temperatures will be recorded and a questionnaire will be filled out. Riders will be registered for the ride at the same time.
  • Riders will be divided into 5 groups of 100 each. You get to choose which celebrity rider you wish to ride with.
  • Riders will be led on the safest route by the Road Rangers.
  • The route will be made available closer to the time.
  • Sanitation stations will be placed throughout the venue. Please sanitise regularly.
  • Riders are required to wear a mask/buff at all times when on the venue or at water points. You may remove it once you start riding.
  • Spectators are unfortunately not allowed on venue, as that will push up the numbers past the acceptable COVID-19 event number.
  • Riders will collect their medal and goody bag when they have finished their ride together with a sealed beverage.
  • Riders cannot be encouraged to stay around after the race and we ask that riders exit the venue as soon as possible.
  • There will be limited seating available to avoid congregating as much as possible.
  • Nevertheless, expect a festive atmosphere and a beautifully set up venue!
  • There will be food, coffee and soft drinks for sale. Unfortunately, no alcohol.
  • There will not be a prize-giving ceremony at the venue and winners will be announced after the race.
