Covid Regulations - Criterium Road Race

All riders need to familiarise themselves with the current COVID-19 event format and race regulations to make sure they know what is expected. Procedure and protocol are slightly different during the COVID pandemic, but necessary to ensure the ongoing organisation of events during lockdown.

  • Only paid pre-entries will be accepted. There will be no late entries or unpaid entries at the venue. This eliminates unnecessary queueing and promotes social distancing.
  • Participation is limited to 500 riders in each category.
  • No timing chip needed.
  • Only riders will be allowed on the venue. Due to stringent COVID-19 regulations, no spectators can be accommodated.
  • No rider will be allowed to access the race venue without the following compulsory items:
    • Mask or Buff
    • Helmet
    • Bicycle
  • Practise proper social distancing at all times – no physical contact between any persons, please. Always keep your bike between yourself and the next rider. Always wear your mask buff to cover both your nose and mouth at the same time, at the venue and water points. You may remove your mask/buff once you are out on course.
  • Sanitation stations will be available throughout the venue. Please look out for these and make use of them as much as possible.
  • Riders must arrive at the start venue 45 – 30 minutes prior to the start of their batch. Please do not arrive too early or too late.
  • All riders entering the venue will pass through the screening and scanning area where your temperature will be taken and an electronic questionnaire completed. Riders will also be registered and allocated a number.
  • Any person registering above 37.5 degrees or who does not qualify according to the basic questionnaire will unfortunately not be allowed to access the venue or race.
  • The same staff member will scan your SAS board to confirm your timing chip is working and registered to the correct person.
  • From the scanning area, riders may proceed directly to the batch holding pens and await their start.
  • Toilet facilities will be available. Please sanitise before entering and after exiting the toilets.
  • There will be coffee, soft drinks and take away vendors at the venue, but unfortunately, there will be limited sit-down areas or tents. COVID-19 regulations do not encourage unnecessary congregation. 
  • No alcohol will be on sale.
  • When approaching the water points, please refit your buff or mask and only touch the items you will keep with you.
  • Water points will be touch-less and all snacks will be wrapped and sealed.
  • At the Finish, riders may collect their own goody bag and medal and proceed directly out of the fenced area where they may collect a sealed hydration drink.
  • Unfortunately, we do not encourage riders to hang around at the venue after completion of their race. Food and drink will be available for purchase but only for take away. As mentioned there will be no alcohol on sale and limited seating will be available.
  • Please exit the venue at your earliest convenience to minimise the COVID-19 risk as much as possible.
  • There will be no prize-giving at the venue after the races. All winners will be announced via social media and news-letters the following Monday.
