It is with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of a participant during the Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg cycle race today, 19 November 2023. Our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends, and loved ones of the cyclist.
The incident occurred during the race, and despite immediate and extensive medical attention provided by on-site medical personnel, regrettably, the cyclist could not be revived. The entire event organising team is deeply saddened by this tragic loss, and our thoughts are with all affected by this heartbreaking event.
